Gemara Iyun
9:10 – 11:10 AM
At Heichal HaTorah, our talmidim delve deeply into a challenging masechta each year, with the ultimate goal of mastering the skills necessary to confidently “lein” Gemara, Rashi, Tosafos, and other major rishonim and acharonim. Our Rebbeim offer top-tier training, guiding students through a meticulous analysis of every word and phrase, teaching them to appreciate the profound implications behind each one. More than just understanding the surface of the Gemara, talmidim are trained to uncover the underlying concepts that form the foundation of the sugya, transforming their learning into a thoughtful and dynamic intellectual journey and introducing them to lomdos. Ample time is dedicated to chavrusah learning, where talmidim prepare for shiurim and engage in meaningful chazarah, reinforcing the clarity and depth of each sugya.
Gemara Bekius
12:40 – 2:00 PM
Each year, a second masechta is chosen for bekius learning, with every talmid achieving mastery over an entire masechta. Talmidim take regular bechinos on the dapim and perakim they cover, culminating in a comprehensive masechta bechina at the end of the year. Throughout their time in the Yeshiva, talmidim will complete four masechtos, selected from Berachos, Rosh Hashanah, Megillah, Succah, Kiddushin, Gittin, or Sotah. There is no prouder moment for our Yeshiva, our parents, or our talmidim than when they stand confidently at the podium, reciting the Hadran at the end-of-year siyum. The joy continues after the summer when they once again make a siyum at the Simchas Bais HaShoeivah, having reviewed the masechta throughout the summer. This cycle of learning and chazarah instills a deep, lasting connection to Talmud Torah and builds lifelong learners and talmedei chachachim.
Halacha and Chumash
11:15 AM – 12:00 PM
Every morning, our talmidim engage in the study of halacha, following a comprehensive four-year cycle that covers the entire Kitzur Shulchan Aruch and Kitzur Hilchos Shabbos. This structured learning ensures that our talmidim gain the essential knowledge to live a life rooted in shemiras hamitzvos. In addition, Heichal talmidim immerse themselves daily in the study of Chumash with Rashi and other meforshim. Our rebbeim emphasize how the teachings of the Torah are a source of inspiration for avodas Hashem and guide every aspect of our daily lives. By highlighting the relevance of Torah to modern challenges, our talmidim develop a deep connection to its timeless wisdom. We approach Chumash study with a focus on understanding the pshat while also delving into drash through the lens of a myriad of meforshim. The ultimate goal is to inspire our talmidim to see the relevance of the Torah’s eternal messages in their personal growth and service of Hashem.
Mussar
Our Rosh Yeshiva, hanhala, mashgichim, and rebbeim deliver uplifting and motivational speeches before or after Shacharis, Mincha, and Maariv, igniting a sense of purpose in our talmidim. These words of inspiration serve as a powerful reminder that being a true ben Torah extends beyond the walls of the Beis Medrash—it encompasses every aspect of daily life. At Heichal, derech eretz is not just encouraged; it is emphasized as a core value, integral to the identity of a ben Torah. Our talmidim are taught to embody respect, integrity, and humility in their interactions with others, reflecting the Torah’s teachings in all that they do. By drawing from classic mussar seforim that instill positive character development, our rebbeim inspire talmidim to daven with kavana, to live with purpose, and to learn with passion and excitement. These teachings resonate deeply, empowering each talmid to internalize the values of mussar in a way that brings joy and enthusiasm to their avodas Hashem and everyday lives.
Night Seder
Mondays and ThursdayS
7:00 – 7:55 PM followed by Maariv
On Monday nights, our talmidim focus on reviewing their bekius learning with their rebbeim, reinforcing the material they’ve covered throughout the week. This dedicated time helps solidify their understanding and retention of the sugyos. The evening concludes with the entire yeshiva coming together to daven Maariv at 7:55 PM, fostering a strong sense of unity and devotion to avodas Hashem. Thursday nights offer a special opportunity for talmidim to participate in dynamic chaburahs led by older mentors from the upper-classmen and the Heichal Beis Medrash. These mentors serve as role models, guiding their younger peers both in learning and personal growth. In addition to their role in the Beis Medrash, these mentors actively participate in Heichal trips, special events, and Shabbatons, creating meaningful relationships that extend beyond the classroom.
